Welcome to Binging Art!

made for binge-sharing love for music, life, nature & art

We are a Cello Academy and a place of pursuing excellence, thanks to a biophilic pedagogical approach, monthly classes and motivation from fellow members and getting equipped with academic level tools preparing to binge-sharing artistic moments off screen. BA aims to shape generations of people who will use practicing an instrument and binging art – as a form of “medication” – healthy form of escapism and reconnecting with the stillness for emotional regulation, for preventing cognitive decline caused by aging1, increase of focus due to deliberate practice and prevent falling into loneliness and spiral of anxiety  which are observed phenomenon globally.

1According to published reputable research:

“Learning to play a musical instrument increases cognitive strength and reduces cognitive decline in older adults.”

“Participating in musical pursuits enhances mood and confidence in adults and children, regardless of one’s skill level. Among documented benefits are: better communication skills, improved emotional release, decreased anxiety and agitation, increased feelings of relaxation and happiness, positive effect on pain and anxious or depressive symptoms, and improved performance.”

“Beyond memory, playing an instrument refines concentration and focus as musicians navigate timing, rhythm, and melody.”

In summary

Binging Art is a place meant for people aged 5-95 who want to learn to play the cello healthily for mind and body, while building new habits of getting recharged (healthy escapism) thanks to conscious engagement with other forms of art and nature. Cello serves as a tool, meant to stick for the rest of life, as a life partner, meant to stand for binge-sharing of creative moments while the Academy is a home with potential to reach people on all continents to reinforce healthy mind and body habits, beyond music making.

My goal here is to make music and art practicing awesome for 1 million people all across the country and globe.

To make music and art practice benefit the well-being of 1 million people aged 5-95. We do it by binging art and by turning everyday moments into creative celebrations!

The Mission

I’ve been teaching since 2012
while being an active cellist, as primarily soloist and chamber musician since 1997. I’ve got 5 University degrees, various awards, scholarships and was invited to a handful of places in the world to join as an artist in residence.

In 2020, I got accepted to a prestigious masterclass in Sweden, but unfortunately it couldn’t take place live due to pandemy. I got my lessons online. I was highly sceptical and somehow denied the quality of my experience, not believing it had any potential to be as effective as live learning.

Yet after a few months I had admitted to myself that that masterclass was one of the best I ever had. I learned a lot. It took me months to dare to admit it, because the classical music world tends to be still a highly sceptical and old fashioned universe.

Once I admitted to myself the value of my experience
against the common belief, I started to teach remotely (at the end of that year) under the name Cello Lesson Online. I had students right away, they came from all over the world – Asia, USA, South America and Europe. Till now, I did not have a month without even a single lesson given.

Now, it’s 2025
and while other engagements, such as concerts and occasional recordings come and go – teaching has been the constant in my development as a human being and as an innovator in the approach to passing on the knowledge from a distance.

I made a decision early on, that if by teaching online – I go against the current – then I shall do it entirely on my terms and dare to go beyond thousands of books, schools and methods which I encountered in my 28 years of playing.

In the first years, my students were my creative partners in experimentation –
I was hyper active tailoring new methods of engagement and explaining without ever touching a person. I was analyzing effectiveness based on their progress and overall mental health state – how individuals were able to stick to a healthy way of working on cello, protecting the quality of the academic level regime of practicing in order to start sounding and feeling just like we want.

It took me years of ideating/prototyping the Binging Art platform – and by now, I decided to create it (since the two students who stuck with me since all those years are in need for such an honest and useful place).

By teaching online, I sit frequently in people’s most private areas –
when they come home after work – when they have an hour between taking care of children – when they are exhausted but want to do something good for them, to feel better, less stressed, more happy, escape the worries and just fly with music according to their wish of how good they should sound currently (worth to mention that everyone tends to be very tough on themselves, beside children from “relaxed families” – they are like a sponge and just “have fun” while they get crazily good in a light speed at what they are doing).

It definitely fascinated me that a lot of children learn quite much faster, but analysis of their state of flow and way of being during the lesson, made me aware that I am able to bring this childlike joy to every student on every lesson – thus open them up to a limitless progress, away from negative self talk and overly high expectations which kill appreciation for the moment, which children just naturally live in.

My method can be taught to other teachers and artists,
on how to share and include others into incorporating gifts of being in frequent and conscious relation with art, nature and music.

Because in order to evolve in music – we need to be reminding ourselves of our relations with the natural world and be deeply connected to nature, other forms of art and fellow human beings. Otherwise engaging with art, pursuing music, playing an instrument – is just a collection of putted together sound waves which can lead to beyond masochistic never ending pursuit towards perfection of their execution, which can, without a doubt, have a negative effect on our health (with the possibility of even bringing us to madness).

My approach is meant to build well rounded, attentive people
to the planet, humanists, the next generation of people connected globally by conscious engagement with art, music and nature, regardless of their race, social status and aspirations towards becoming a professional or an advanced amatour.

The platform teaches and champions independence, critical thinking and creative boldness – healthy off screen binge-sharing behaviours within the A, M & N (art, music and nature).

Live Sessions

A few times a month we connect for group Live Sessions on Zoom - group lessons, student concerts and feedback, Q&As, deep dives into technique and practice strategies and mentions about binging art, beautiful times in nature and living our best lives. We might be quite obsessed about having fun while learning from each other, going meticulously through repertoire, healthy traditions of playing and performing while having clear goals and lots of laughs along the way. Striving for excellence doesn't need to be overly serious, nor isolating experience! You learn much faster when you don't even notice that you are learning, because you are having a good time.

Inner Circle

I believe in democratizing academic artistic knowledge and building a network based on shared values, not current skill level. I passed all extremely selective entrance exams to music academies I ever wanted - and the bottom line is that everyone should have an access to “know how” we think and feel on that level. Every "art binger" gets access to an ever-growing library of courses, cello repertoire, arrangements, a practice habit tracker, group live sessions, articles, art news, forums and groups, support circles for both beginner and professional cellists, a Telegram class chat, a newsletter and even the chance to receive collectible monthly mail to a traditional mailbox with a Binging Art Adventure of the Month and a historical artistic fact. As for Apprentice Program, students there get 1-on-1 lessons because, well... they are pros and want some private time on top of all there already is.

Teachers

In its current form, Binging Art has one teacher, Joasia (hi! it's me writing it!) - I am the founder of this platform and I studied non-stop between ages 7-30, eventually, I forced myself to stop taking entrance exams to yet another degree and accept that I was ready to start giving back to the world. As someone from a non-musical family who took every opportunity to create my artistic dreams - music and art give such enrichment to life and identity. In my 30s I realized that I feel best at the crossroads between teaching academic-level cello-aiming for art to improve well-being-performing, recording and bringing creative people together, while helping nurture a community attentive to nature & art (my connection to the body increased after I became an accredited by World Yoga Federation Yoga teacher from the school placed in Asia combining wisdom of East and West and as for nature - I had been living in Finland 10 years (2015-2025), from which 8 past years in a row Finland has been voted “happiest country in the world”). Creating something useful for others on and off screen, is and was a joy.

“Biophilia: the inborn affinity human beings have for other forms of life.”

Why?

“Music as Medicine”

When I write this text, it is 2025 and about the time that act of learning music is treated as a transformative experience. Ongoingly growing scientific research already shows that playing an instrument, such as the cello, can:

✦ Sharpen our memory and improve cognitive function.
✦ Boost mental health by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.
✦ Prevent cognitive decline by keeping our brain active and engaged.

Thinking this way, learning the cello isn’t just a hobby, but a step towards mental and emotional health - that is, if every practice session strengthens our focus, fuels creativity and connects us to something bigger than ourselves.

Our brains thrive on meaningful challenges and in Binging Art I aim for structure to channel passions into measurable growth. It is quite exciting to be on a path to unlock potential, prevent cognitive decline and build skills of others that last a lifetime!

You probably heard that the cello is unlike any other instrument. Its tone mirrors the human voice, making it deeply personal and profoundly moving. Chances are, that if you are reading this text - you were already touched by the sound of cello - at some point.

✦ Cello grounds us and playing it is like meditation in motion.

✦ Cello connects us and doesn't matter if we're playing solo or in a group, it simply offers a sense of unity and presence.

✦ Cello rewires our brains and mastering music improves our focus, resilience and emotional intelligence.

The approach of building a psychological core through learning and practicing cello, combined with engaging in binging art for relaxation, reflects my interest in a growing body of research agreeing that music is an effective tool for stimulating physical and cognitive activity and should be viewed as a form of medicine. At BA Academy, mindful practice and a supportive community are key to learning the cello, whether as a profession or a hobby.

“Biophilia”

Biophilia originates from Greek, translates literally as ‘love of life’. Biophilic Pedagogy represents an educational approach deeply rooted in the innate human connection to nature, aiming to foster a sustainable mindset. For me biophilia in teaching music is incorporation of a feeling and habits - deep listening, emotional expression, outdoor practices, nature-based inspiration for music making and attunement to life’s rhythms.

“Binging”

The term "binging" or "bingeing" (both forms are accepted by the dictionary) sound familiar to most of us thanks to its association with activities like binge-watching, binge-eating or binge-reading. Those behaviors are rather seen as mindless (form of escapism, right?), but I choose to reframe "binging" as something productive and meaningful, aiming for it to become positive, proud, empowering, life building moments connected to taking regular time off from our days for art and music making and spectating it.

How It Works

Binging Art is a global community for a new generation of dedicated creatives, providing them with the structure, confidence and connections to master their discipline. Through mentorship, curated experiences and immersive programs here at Binging Art I support artists in refining their technique, deepening their artistic expression and creating work that leaves a lasting impact (aka. wow factor, within foremost).

Start

Tell me what stage you're in so that we pick up right where you got stuck, and if that is the beginning or an end - then so be it. Expect mastering cello repertoire and dream pieces, but not without music theory and lessons adjusted individually to goals.

Sound just the way You Want

It feels very nice to have a skill to play the music just the way we hear in our head - classical, contemporary, popular or anything in between. Ah and at this point it's perhaps worth mentioning - you can cancel your membership anytime because I am happy if you are ready to go forward and spread Binging Art knowledge to the world!

FOR WHOM?

I aim for Binging Art Academy to be a lifelong cognitive and artistic development hub. We artists embrace deep focus, discipline and innovation. I believe that by immersing yourself fully in the craft while being part of a community - through intensive learning, interdisciplinary exploration and bold experimentation - humanists, artists will push boundaries and reshape the future of all that's ahead of us in this beautiful, yet uncertain world.

For beginners

From day one or day zero, from month 2 or year 5 (only with a team member - your parent at this age!) - I can grab you on your level and help you walk the walk, but there is a zero chance that I will allow you to suffer mentally at any point. Unlike conservatories and traditional institutions, BA is not just for professionals. I am all for democratizing knowledge. "You are an average of the 5 people you hang out with" said a person who contributed to polarization of the world. We are here to support each other's journeys since we all have something to learn from each other.

For students

My cello degrees were taken at the universities in The Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and Denmark, not to mention 12 years of music schooling in Poland and around its borders. Entrance exams? Been there, done that, won that. Solo, chamber music, orchestral concerts/contracts? Definitely, spent 28+ years getting better at doing exactly that. Hundreds of studio recordings? Absolutely. Won awards? Yes, if it actually means anything. Got outside of classical, pop/rock/jazz/impro and all in between? YES.

For professionals

Hi fellow professional! Chances are that similarly to me you've done it all and it's the best thing ever - art and music, while you might be missing a nice community. Life of a soloist can be a bit lonely at times. So here is the offer for an ear, an arm from a fellow creative to dig into the depths of the core of it all: the cello repertoire, ever-emerging contemporary music, unpacking unknown composers, scores and arrangements. Let's meet as equals and build a legacy of sound and approach to music and art. And let's compose and get out of the music of others. What is playing within you at this stage?
